This tour will take you to visit 2 most famous sights in Da Nang. One is the excellent Cham Museum in Da Nang where housed the finest collection of Cham sculptures and the other is the Museum of Cham Sculpture with more than 300 artifacts dating from the 4th to the 14th century.
Tour starts at Museum of Cham Sculpture with more than 300 artifacts dating from the 4th to the 14th century. Attend a seminar on Cham sculpture, presented by Cham culture experts in Da Nang. Then we visit Tra Kieu in an inscription carved on a stele of Champa Kingdom, formerly called Simhapura. Simhapura is called "The City of Lions". During the reign of king Bhadvarman in the 4th century, apart from the Simhapura or Tra Kieu, The Champa established the nearby Holy Land of My Son, of which unfortunately we have been able to restore only part. As for Tra Kieu, the former capital of the Cham Kingdom, (also called Lam Ap) situated next to the romantic Thu Bon River, there remains only damaged foundation of the ramparts, buried beneath piles of rocks. Continue to My Son, a World Heritage site recognized by UNESCO in 1999. Here is the biggest Cham intellectual and religious centre and also a burial place for Cham monarchs from the 4th to the 13th century. The stunning ruins of dozens of red brick towers can be explored.
